Leading with Clarity, Balance, and Care: A Conversation with Pornsuree Konanta, Vice President, Corporate Affairs at Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd.
How does your organization embed well-being into its culture? Well-being becomes meaningful through everyday leadership behavior. We prioritize physical and psychological safety, encouraging people to speak up, share ideas, and raise concerns. We also consider workload, recovery, and flexibility while maintaining accountability. When people feel safe, respected, and able to sustain their energy, trust and performance strengthen each other. In high-pressure environments, how do you sustain clarity and resilience? I return to purpose, values, and priorities. I focus on calm decision-making, transparent communication, and listening to diverse perspectives. Personally, resilience comes from rest, reflection, and balance. When leaders remain grounded, their teams feel steadier. What experience most transformed your approach to leading people? Experience taught me that meaningful leadership must be sustainable. Inspired by the Middle Path, I try to lead with moderation, avoid extremes, and respond thoughtfully rather than reactively. This helps me support people with greater balance and perspective. What insight would you share with the next generation of global leaders? Cultivate adaptability, self-awareness, humility, and empathy. Professional skills matter, but health, relationships, integrity, and resilience sustain leadership over time. Leadership is measured not only by achievement, but by the ability to lead consistently, ethically, and with care.
Which defining moments shaped your journey as a leader?
How would you describe your leadership philosophy in today’s complex world? I believe a leader’s role is to make work simpler, not harder, for others. My philosophy is grounded in clarity, simplification, and care. By setting clear priorities, making consistent decisions, and removing unnecessary complexity, leaders create an environment where people can focus, contribute, and perform at their best. What health and wellness trends will redefine corporate performance? Corporate performance is driven by people. Preventive health and mental well-being are becoming essential because they directly influence judgment, collaboration, energy, and resilience. Organizations that invest intentionally in employee well-being will be better equipped to manage long-term complexity and achieve sustainable results. My leadership journey has been shaped more by transition than by title. Moving from the public sector into a global energy company required me to adapt to greater speed, complexity, and scale. With support from leaders and colleagues, I learned that leadership means helping people navigate change with confidence, clarity, and respect.
