What are the treatment approaches?
The treatment approaches for enlarged prostate to be considered are based on the symptoms, not on the prostate size. Even if the prostate is very large but the patient has no symptoms, it is not necessary to take medication. The Urology Center provides the following care for over 5,000 patients with enlarged prostate each year: Change water drinking habits: With mild symptoms, patients are advised to reduce the water intake. It’s also good to reduce caffeinated and alcoholic beverages.

Third is the Saw Palmetto berry extract, which helps reduce inflammation and makes urination easier. However, it may not be as effective as the other medications.
Second is the drugs that shrink the prostate, which must be taken continuously for about 6 months to work
First is the drugs that relax the smooth muscle of the bladder neck and prostate, making urination easier.

Surgical treatment:
In some cases, treatment with medications may not help improve symptoms or causes too many side effects. In other cases, there may be recurring complications in the urinary tract such as infection, high level of post-void residual, causing kidney function to worsen or blood in the urine.
